RIMSE, Mysuru: 26-27 April 2025 (9:00 am - 5:00 pm)
Summary: Synthesis or harmony is an ethos of the Indian psyche. People here have been managing institutions, organizations and ventures for millennia. History tells us that before the arrival of the British, India contributed 25% of the global production. But none of the Indian management systems or case studies of the communities that built and managed such institution are part of the over 15 lakh students who study management in India.
What: The workshop is designed for practicing managers and will include the following aspects –
- Exploration of management principles grounded in Indian philosophical traditions
- Practical approaches to organizational harmony and leadership from an Indian perspective
- Analysis of community-built institutions through relevant case studies
- Application of traditional wisdom to contemporary business challenges
- Connection with professionals seeking authentic alternatives to conventional management paradigms
Facilitator & Faculty: Ramasubramanian combines a career of professional management consulting, change management, researching on traditional Indian society both contemporary and historical, and building and nurturing institutions. He has extensively written on Indian system of management since over three decades and has been taught and spoken in several prestigious international institutions including on ethics twice in the Parliament of World Religions, in Toronto and Chicago respectively.
His Knowledge Journey --
Ramasubramanian's path represents a remarkable integration of ancient wisdom and contemporary application:
1990s: Questioning conventional management paradigms, Ram began exploring Indian case studies and concepts. This investigation led to collaborative work on the Indian System of Management—drawing from ancient scriptures across multiple languages and modern corporate practices.
2000s: Through close collaboration with Gandhian thinker Dharampal, Ram uncovered pre-Colonial management approaches documented in British archives, revealing sophisticated systems that predated Western influence.
2010s: Working alongside rural communities to develop sustainable livelihood strategies, Ram observed indigenous knowledge systems containing profound sustainable wisdom that has survived generations.
2020s: Ram has now synthesized this knowledge from scriptures, historical records, and community practices to create management frameworks responsive to our climate-challenged world.
